Around 1970, Moosburg a. d. Isar was home to three 9-pin bowling teams: Rot-Weiß Moosburg, Blaue Kugel Moosburg, and 67er Moosburg. As interest in 9-pin bowling waned over the years, membership declined. In 2023, these teams united to form "Moosburger Keglerverein."
"Our attendance rate at live matches increased by over 20% over the next months."
With this merger we decided to revitalize the sport with a modern, digital approach. We chose orange as the primary design color, inspired by the tracksuits that were chosen by the Moosburger Keglerverein. This choice symbolizes the merging of the three original clubs, represented through a gradient in our design elements. Our goal was to create a dynamic, modern look that captures the emotion and excitement of 9-pin bowling, mostly through images.
To attract younger audiences and showcase the thrill of the sport, we launched an Instagram account in July, which has grown to 230 followers, and started streaming home matches on Twitch in October, averaging 25 viewers per stream. Our Instagram posts reach around 300 people and receive about 25 likes each.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, increasing interest and attendance at our matches. We designed new jerseys and created an Instagram template to simplify match data for non-9-pin bowlers, highlighting key performance indicators and winners. This template made it easy to share results on social media.
We also developed an overlay for their Twitch live streams, displaying live match data to build suspense and make 9-pin bowling more accessible.
Through these efforts, Newlands has successfully brought a fresh perspective to 9-pin bowling, engaging a new generation and revitalizing interest in the sport.
